Profile and preferences
Open your OpenAleph profile, change your photo, switch the interface language between English and French, and change your password.
Your profile is your personal page in OpenAleph. It shows your information and your history across modules (interviews, skills reviews, trainings, goals). From it you manage your personal preferences: photo, language and password. The profile content itself (information fields, tabs, who can edit what) is described in Your profile and member profiles.
Open your profile
- Click your avatar at the top right of the screen.
- Click Profile.
Your profile opens in a new browser tab. It shows your photo, name, email and, below, a Dashboard with tabs: Information, Interviews, Skills reviews, Trainings and Goals (depending on the modules your company uses). If your company uses Learn, your Learn badges appear under your name.
Change your profile photo
- On your profile, click Edit photo (on your avatar).
- In the Edit photo window, drag and drop an image, or click Upload a file and choose one. Supported formats: .jpg, .jpeg and .png, up to 10 MB.
- The new photo is saved immediately and appears in the top bar.
To remove your photo, open Edit photo and click Remove current photo. Your initials are shown instead.
Change the interface language
OpenAleph is available in English and Français. The language applies to the web app, the mobile app and the emails OpenAleph sends you.
- On your profile, click Settings (top right of the profile header).
- Under OpenAleph Language, open the Language list and choose English or Français.
- The page reloads in the new language and "Language has been updated." is shown.
Note: the language of the interface is not the language of the content. Interview templates, trainings or surveys are shown in the language(s) their creator wrote them in. When a content is available in several languages, you can usually pick the language on the content itself.
Change your password
- On your profile, click Settings.
- Under Password, click Change password.
- Type your new password in New password and again in Confirm new password. It must contain at least 8 characters.
- Click Save. "Password has been updated." is shown.
If you forgot your current password, you don't need it: use Forgot? on the login screen instead. See Log in to OpenAleph.
Tip: if you always log in with Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft, you don't need an OpenAleph password at all.
View the history of your profile
On your own profile, the clock icon next to Settings (History) lists the changes made to your profile information: which field changed, when and by whom. See Profile history.
Edit your profile information
On the Information tab, select a section and click Edit. You can change most of your own information, but not your access level or your manager. If your company synchronises its data from an HR system, the Edit button is hidden. See Edit profile information.
Preferences on the mobile app
The mobile app has its own Profile tab with the language, the appearance (light, dark or system theme), password change, biometric unlock (Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint) and photo. See Mobile app.
What admins can do
Admins (and Scoped admins, for the members in their population) can open a member's profile and use Edit photo and Settings on it, for example to fix a photo or set a member's language. Change password also appears there, but the new password is not applied to the member's account: only the member can change their password (or use Forgot? on the login screen). See Edit, deactivate and restore members.
Common questions
I don't see the Settings button on a colleague's profile.
That's expected. Settings (language and password) only appears on your own profile, and for admins and scoped admins on the profiles they manage.
I changed the language, but some texts are still in the other language.
Content written by your company (templates, trainings, survey questions, goal titles) stays in the language it was written in. Only the interface labels change. A few recent screens, such as the login screen, may also still show English labels.
My photo doesn't upload.
Check the format (.jpg, .jpeg or .png) and the size (10 MB maximum). Try a smaller image.
Will my new password work on the mobile app?
Yes. There is one password per account, used on the web and on the mobile app.
Can I get emails in French but use the app in English?
No. Emails use the same language as your interface. Changing your language changes both.
