Answer a team survey

How employees find, answer, save, submit or decline the team surveys they are invited to, from the web app, the home page or an email.

When you're a participant in a Team Survey campaign, you have your own answer sheet. You can answer in several sittings: every answer is saved automatically, and nothing is sent until you click Submit.

Find your surveys

You can reach a survey in three ways:

  • Email or notification: the invitation and reminder emails, and the matching push and in-app notifications, contain a direct link to your sheet.
  • Home page: surveys you still have to answer appear in the Next up! section, with a Start survey or Continue survey button, until their deadline.
  • Team Survey › My surveys: the full list.

On My surveys (page title Surveys, "Share your voice, shape what comes next"), employees see their sheets directly. Managers and above see two tabs: As participant (their own sheets) and As person in charge for the campaigns they run (see Read Team Survey results).

Use the switch at the top to filter:

Filter Shows
To do Surveys you haven't submitted yet.
Done Surveys you have submitted.
All Everything.

Type in the search bar to find a survey by campaign title. Each card shows the campaign title, the Deadline and a status tag:

Status Meaning
Not started You haven't answered anything yet.
In progress You've started; your answers are saved but not submitted.
Done You've submitted. Your answers are read-only.
Not required You declined the survey.

Answer the survey

  1. Click the survey card (or the link in your email). The survey opens.
  2. At the top you see the Deadline, your name as Respondent and the campaign title, then the survey description and, if there is one, a video.
  3. Answer each question:
    • Open question: type your answer in the text box.
    • Rating: click a value on the scale.
    • Multi-choice: select one option.
    • A Comment box appears under some questions if the author allowed comments.
  4. Questions marked with * are required.
  5. Your answers are saved as you go. The tag in the top bar shows Saving..., then Auto-saved. If it shows Not saved, the last change wasn't recorded: check your connection and try again.
  6. You can leave and come back later from My surveys or the home page; your answers will be there.
  • If the survey has chapters, click the menu icon (Chapters) in the top bar to open the list of chapters and jump to one.
  • If the survey is available in other languages, click the translate icon (Translate) and choose a language, or Source language for the original. Only the questions change language; your answers stay as you wrote them.

Submit your answers

  1. Click Submit in the top bar.
  2. If a required question is empty, a message tells you how many are missing and those questions are highlighted in red. Answer them and click Submit again.
  3. The Submit your answers? window reminds you that once submitted, your answers can no longer be edited. Click Submit to confirm.
  4. The message "Your answers have been submitted" appears. The sheet moves to Done and becomes read-only.

You can open a submitted survey at any time to read your answers and comments.

Decline a survey

If you don't want to take part:

  1. In Team Survey › My surveys, find the survey card.
  2. Click Decline survey, then Decline in the Decline this survey ? window ("You will not be able to answer it after declining.").
  3. The survey shows Not required.

You can decline only before you submit, while the campaign is running. What you had already written is kept: if you change your mind, ask the person in charge of the campaign to put you back on it.

Anonymous surveys

The invitation email tells you whether answers are anonymous. On an anonymous campaign, the people who read the results don't see your name or picture next to your answers, and results can't be filtered down to fewer than five people. Your own name still appears on your own sheet, because only you see it. See Anonymity in Team Survey.

On a phone

See also Mobile app.

Open the link from your invitation email in your phone's browser, or log in to OpenAleph in the browser and go to Team Survey › My surveys. The survey page adapts to small screens. The OpenAleph mobile app doesn't currently have dedicated Team Survey screens.

Common questions

I can't find the survey I was told about.

Check the All filter in My surveys and the search bar. If it's not there, you may not be a participant yet, or the campaign hasn't started (scheduled campaigns appear on their start date). Ask the person in charge.

The Submit button isn't there.

The sheet is read-only: you've already submitted it, the person in charge closed it, you declined it, or the campaign was deleted. The status tag in the top bar tells you which.

I submitted too early. Can I change my answers?

Not by yourself. Ask the person in charge of the campaign to reopen your survey; you'll then be able to edit and submit it again.

The page says "This survey can no longer be answered."

The campaign was closed or deleted while you were answering, or your sheet was closed. The page reloads in read-only mode.

I see "Campaign Deleted".

The campaign was deleted by its organiser. No action is possible; click Go to my surveys.

Can I answer after the deadline?

The survey disappears from the home page after its deadline, but as long as your sheet isn't closed you can still open it from My surveys and submit it. Your organiser may close late sheets at any time, so answer before the deadline.
