Objectives and key results

Objectives and KRs is the main OKR page: it lists the objectives of the company with their Key Results, so everyone can see what the company is working on and how far along it is. From here, owners and assignees also create and manage objectives and Key Results.

Browse objectives

1. In the sidebar, go to OKRs › Objectives and KRs. The page is titled Objectives and KR’s, "Current OKRs of your company".
2. Use the controls at the top:
   • OKR Plan: pick a plan, or All (default) to see objectives of every plan.
   • Show only my OKRs: on by default. It keeps objectives where you are owner or assignee of the plan, of the objective, or of one of its Key Results (or child Key Results). Turn it off to see every objective of the company.
   • Search: find objectives by title.
   • Filters: Status (Current is selected by default the first time you open the page), Progress, Scope, Owner and Deadline.
3. Each objective is shown as a card: "Objective | Organizational" or "Objective | Individual", the title, dates, owner and the progress percentage.
4. Click a card to expand it. You see:
   • Objective info: owner, assignees and description;
   • the progress chart, "Progress during time", with the current progress ("The OKR has ... of progress", or "The OKR has not started yet");
   • Last events: history and comments of the objective;
   • the list of its Key Results, each with its own progress, which you can expand in turn.

Your filters are kept in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view.

Create an objective

Before you start

• You can create an objective in a plan if you are the owner, an assignee or the creator of that plan, or if you are an admin. The plan must not be archived.
• The New Objective button only appears if you can create objectives in at least one current or upcoming plan.

Steps

1. Click New Objective on Objectives and KRs, or New objective on a plan's page (see OKR plans).
2. Fill in the Create Objective window:
   • Parent OKR Plan: the plan the objective belongs to (already filled and locked when you start from a plan).
   • Objective title* (70 characters max) and, with Add description, a description.
   • Owner*: the person accountable for the objective.
   • Scope*: Organisation (a shared objective, which can have assignees) or Individual (a personal objective, without assignees). Organisation is selected by default.
   • Duration: Start date* and Deadline*.
3. Click Create Objective. "Objective has been created successfully." confirms it.

When you start from a plan's page, the owner and the dates are pre-filled with the plan's owner and dates. When you start from Objectives and KRs, choose the owner and the dates yourself. The objective's status is Current or Upcoming depending on its start date. The plan's owner and assignees are emailed that a new objective was added (except you).

Add a Key Result to an objective

1. Open the objective's three-dot menu and choose Add Key Result (or click Add first Key Result in an objective that has none: "No Key Result added yet").
2. Fill in the Create key result window:
   • Parent Objective: already filled, read-only.
   • General information: Key Result title* (70 characters max) and an optional description.
   • Owner: defaults to the objective's owner.
   • Duration: Start date* and Deadline*, pre-filled with the objective's dates. You can shorten them.
   • Indicator type: see the table below.
3. Click Create Key Result.

"Starting value is the initial measurement, while Target value is the desired goal. Progress of the Key Result is measured between these two points."

The starting value and the target value must be different. The current value starts at the starting value.

The objective's owner and assignees are emailed that a new Key Result was added. To split a Key Result into smaller ones, add child Key Results (see Alignment and progress).

Common questions

I don't see the New Objective button.

You can only create objectives in plans you own, are assigned to or created (or as an admin). Ask the plan owner to add you as an assignee, or ask your admin.

The page shows fewer objectives than expected.

Check Show only my OKRs (on by default), the OKR Plan selector and the Status filter (Current by default).

I can't add assignees to an objective.

Assignees are only possible on Organisation objectives. Edit the objective and change its scope, or add the people as owners of Key Results.

Can I restore a deleted objective or Key Result?

No. Deleting an objective or a Key Result is permanent, together with everything under it.

Can I use OKRs on the mobile app?

No, OKRs are available on the web app only.
