Set targets for a plan

A plan becomes useful once it has target headcounts: how many people you want in each value of the secondary unit (for example each team of a department). You set them in the Edit structure window.

Before you start

• Permissions: Admins can edit every plan. Managers (and manager creators, scoped admins) can edit the plans they can see, meaning the units they belong to.
• The configuration must exist (see Configure workforce planning).

Set targets

1. Open the window:
   • on the dashboard, click Configure on a Not configured plan (or click the card), or
   • on a plan's details page, click Edit structure.
2. The window Edit structure of opens: "Set the status and the target headcount for each ."
3. Choose the Status:
   • Active: the plan applies now.
   • Upcoming: the plan opens later. Pick its Opening date (click the field, choose a date, click OK).
4. Under Target headcount by , type a number for each unit. Negative numbers aren't allowed; 0 means no target. The Total at the bottom updates as you type. Scroll down to load more units if the list is long.
5. Click Save changes. The message Structure updated. appears.

What happens next:

• The plan's target is the total of its unit targets. As soon as it's above 0, the plan counts as configured: its card shows the filled percentage and See more opens its details.
• The dashboard figures and the plan's charts are refreshed.
• Nobody is notified: changes are only visible in SWP.

Common questions

Can I undo a configured plan?

Set every target back to 0 and save: the plan returns to Not configured.

Does "Upcoming" change the calculations?

No. Status and opening date are informative: filled and to-hire figures are calculated the same way.

I can't find the Edit structure button.

It's on a configured plan's details page. For a plan that isn't configured yet, use Configure on the dashboard card.
