My Goals is your personal list of goals: everything that has been assigned to you, with its status, responsible person, deadline and completion. Everyone who has access to the Goals module has this page. Your manager can see the same list.

Open your goals

  1. In the sidebar, go to Goals › My Goals.
  2. The page header reads My Goals with the reminder "Here is the list of all your goals. This goal list is visible by your manager."
  3. Use the year selector at the top right of the list to choose a year. Only goals whose deadline falls in the selected year are listed. Each year shows a counter with the number of goals due that year. Use the arrows (or click the previous/next year) to move between years. The current year is selected by default.
  4. Type in Search a goal to filter by title.
  5. Click a row to open the goal page.

What the list shows

Column What you see
Goal The indicator icon (toggle for True/False, hashtag for Number, percent sign for Percent, checkbox for Multi-choice), the goal title and "Updated" + date of the last change (or "Never updated").
Status The workflow status (for example Not started, In progress, Completed) with its colour. Not set if the goal has no status.
Responsible The person accountable for the goal, usually your manager.
Deadline The due date of the goal.
Completion The progress tag: for a Number goal "current / goal", for a Percent goal "current% / goal%", for True/False and Multi-choice the value currently selected. A goal created in the wizard starts at its starting value (for example "0 / 10"). Not yet set is shown when the goal has no current value (for example a True/False goal still at its starting value).
(menu) The three-dot menu with Edit goal, Set related items and Delete goal.

Completion colours

Colour Meaning
Blue No value recorded yet.
Red The current value is still the starting value (or zero), or a True/False goal is not reached yet.
Orange In progress: the value moved but the goal value is not reached. For Multi-choice, an option was picked that isn't one of the target options.
Green Goal value reached.

Create a goal for yourself

If you are a manager creator, a scoped admin or an admin, the New Goal button is available at the top of the page. Goals you create here are always assigned to you (the assignee field is locked) and the responsible defaults to your direct manager. See Create a goal.

Note: Employees and managers can't create goals. Their goals are created by a manager creator or an admin, or from a skills review. If you think a goal is missing, ask your manager.

Open a goal

Click any row to open the goal page. From there you can update the current value, change the status, read the history and comment. See Update progress and follow a goal. The Back to my goals button brings you back to the list.

Deleted goals

When a goal is deleted it goes to a trash for 30 days before being permanently removed.

  1. On My Goals, click the three-dot menu next to the page title.
  2. Choose View deleted goals.
  3. In the list, you can:
    • Restore a goal: it comes back to your list with all its history.
    • Open it to look at it (a deleted goal is read-only; its page shows Restore and Delete permanently buttons).
    • Delete permanently (scoped admins and admins only). This can't be undone.

Viewing another employee's goals

Managers and admins can open the goal list of a specific employee (for example from their profile). The page then reads "{name}'s goals" and "Here is the list of all the goals of this employee." It works exactly like My Goals, and goals created from it are assigned to that employee.

Common questions

I don't see Goals in the sidebar.

Your company may not have the Goals module enabled. Ask your admin.

Why is my list empty when I know I have goals?

Check the year selector: the list only shows goals whose deadline is in the selected year. Look at the counters on the neighbouring years.

Can my manager see my goals?

Yes. Your direct manager and the managers above them can see your goals, as well as the person who created them and your admins.

Can I delete a goal that was assigned to me?

Yes, the assignee can delete their own goal from the three-dot menu. It stays in View deleted goals for 30 days and can be restored. If you delete a goal by mistake, restore it from there.

Can I see my goals on my phone?

Yes, in the OpenAleph mobile app, open Goals › My Goals. You can read your goals, update the current value and add comments.
