An OKR plan groups the objectives of a period (for example "2026 – Q3" or "Sales plan 2026"). It has a title, a description, an owner, assignees, a start date and a deadline. Its progress is the average progress of its objectives.

Before you start

  • Creating a plan requires the Manager creator access level or above.
  • Editing, changing the status, archiving or deleting a plan is possible for its owner, its assignees, its creator, scoped admins and admins.
  • Everyone with access to OKRs can see every plan.

Browse plans

  1. In the sidebar, go to OKRs › OKR Plans. The page reads "Set measurable goals using Plans, Objectives, and Key Results."
  2. Use the tabs Current, Upcoming and Finished (each shows a count).
  3. The table shows the Title (with its number of OKRs), Owner, Start date, Deadline and Progress (red below 30%, orange from 30 to 69%, green from 70%; blue for upcoming plans).
  4. Use Search and the Owner, Progress and Deadline filters.
  5. Click a plan to open its page.

Plan statuses

Status How it is set
Current Automatically, when the start date is today or in the past.
Upcoming Automatically, when the start date is in the future. It becomes Current on its start date.
Finished Manually, with Mark as 'Finished'.
Archived Manually, with Archive. Archived plans are no longer listed in the tabs.

Create a plan

  1. On OKR Plans, click New OKR plan.
  2. Step 1 of Create OKR plan:
    • OKR plan title* (70 characters max) and, with Add description, a description.
    • Owner: defaults to you.
    • Duration: Start date* and Deadline*.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Step 2, Define your first OKR:
    • Objective: Objective title, owner (defaults to you) and Scope (Individual or Organization).
    • Key Result (optional): title, owner and indicator type with its starting and target values. Fill in all Key Result fields or leave them all empty ("Please complete all key result fields or leave them all empty.").
  5. Click Create OKR plan. "OKR plan has been created successfully." appears and the plan page opens.

The plan page

The plan page shows the plan title and status, its dates, the Person in charge (owner) and the Assignee(s), its description, and its objectives in Current, Upcoming and Finished tabs.

The top bar gives access to:

  • the pencil icon (Edit): change title, description, owner and dates. Changing the start date recalculates Current/Upcoming;
  • the history icon (Last events): the plan's history and comments;
  • the More menu: Mark as 'Finished' or Mark as 'Current/Upcoming', Archive or Unarchive, Manage Assignees, Delete OKR plan;
  • New objective: add an objective to this plan (see Objectives and key results).

Mark a plan as finished

  1. Choose Mark as 'Finished' (plan page More menu, or the row menu on the Current tab).
  2. Confirm: "Marking the status of the OKR plan as ‘Finished’ will not automatically update the status of its Objectives and Key Results."

To reopen it, use Mark as 'Current/Upcoming': "The OKR plan will revert to ‘Current’ or ‘Upcoming’ status, based on its start date."

The plan's owner, assignees and the people involved in its objectives and KRs are emailed when a plan is finished.

Archive and unarchive a plan

  1. Choose Archive and confirm "All Objectives and KRs will be archived": "Archiving the OKR plan will archive all its Objectives and Key Results. Overall and individual progress will no longer be calculated."
  2. The plan disappears from the tabs. Its page shows "This plan is archived — To see all objectives, unarchive this OKR plan." No objective can be added to an archived plan.

To bring it back, click View archived OKR plans in the menu at the top of OKR Plans, then the Unarchive icon (or Unarchive from the plan page). "The OKR plan and all its Objectives and Key Results will revert to ‘Current’ or ‘Upcoming’ based on their dates."

Delete a plan

Choose Delete OKR plan and confirm "All Objectives and KRs will be deleted": "Deleting the OKR plan will delete all its Objectives and Key Results. This is a permanent action." Archived plans can also be deleted from View archived OKR plans (Delete permanently).

Owners and assignees of the plan, its objectives and KRs are emailed about the deletion.

Common questions

I don't see the New OKR plan button.

Creating plans requires the Manager creator access level or above.

My plan is in Upcoming but it should be running.

The status follows the start date. Edit the plan and check its Start date.

Does finishing a plan finish its objectives?

No. Mark objectives and KRs as finished separately (an objective can finish all its KRs at once with Finish all). Only archiving cascades to everything inside the plan.

What is the difference between the owner and the assignees of a plan?

The owner is the person accountable for the plan. Assignees are the people who contribute to it. Both can edit the plan, add objectives to it and manage it, and both receive the plan's emails. See Visibility and permissions.
