Organization Chart
Browse your company's hierarchy in OpenAleph, search a colleague by name, focus on their team and read their contact and job details.
The Organization Chart shows your company's hierarchy as an interactive tree built from the reporting lines (each member's Manager). Every member can browse it, whatever their access level: it is the company directory of OpenAleph.
Go to Company › People › Organization Chart.
How the chart is built
- The top of the tree is your company.
- The first level shows the members who have no manager but manage at least one person (typically the executive team), sorted by the size of their organisation.
- Under each manager you see their direct reports. Each card shows the person's photo, name and email (or job title) and, for managers, the number of team members and the total number of employees below them. The company card at the top shows the total number of employees.
- Members who have neither a manager nor any report are grouped in a separate card, so nobody is missing from the chart.
- Only active members appear. Deactivated members and external users are never shown.
Tip: the chart is only as accurate as the managers set on profiles. If someone is in the wrong place, ask your admin to fix their Manager (see Edit, deactivate and restore members).
Navigate the chart
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Move around | Click and drag the chart. |
| Zoom | Use the mouse wheel, or the Zoom in and Zoom out buttons. |
| Go back to the starting view | Click Recenter. |
| Open or close a team | Click the expand/collapse badge under a manager's card. The first level is open by default. |
| See the rest of a large team | When a team has many members, a See more or All team members button opens the full list in a side panel. |
Find a colleague
- Type a name in Search by name at the top of the page.
- Pick the person in the list.
- The chart moves to that person and highlights them. A Focus on: name chip appears; click its cross to stop focusing.
The focused person also stays in the page address, so you can share the link with a colleague.
Profile details panel
Click a person's card to open the Profile details panel on the right. It shows:
- their photo, name and job title;
- Department, Work location and Hire date;
- Email address (click it to write an email, or use the copy icon) and Phone number;
- their Manager and their Peers (the other people reporting to the same manager), when they have a manager.
Click a manager or a peer in the panel to move the chart to them.
If you are allowed to open that person's full profile (your own, your team's, your scope's or anyone if you are an admin), an external-link icon at the top of the panel opens their profile in a new tab. Otherwise the icon is hidden.
All team members panel
For a manager, the All team members panel lists the manager and all their Team members, each with their job title (and "Manager" if they manage people themselves). Click a person to focus the chart on them.
Common questions
Why can I see a colleague in the chart but not open their profile?
The chart is a directory everyone can read. The full profile (HR data, interviews, trainings, goals) is restricted to the person, their managers and admins. See Your profile and member profiles.
A colleague is missing from the chart.
They may be deactivated, or they may have no manager and no report (look at the separate card for people outside the hierarchy). External users never appear.
Department or phone number shows "Empty".
The field is not filled in on the person's profile. The member or an admin can complete it.
The chart title is in English although my app is in French.
Some labels of this page are not translated yet. The content is the same.
